Figma is a prototyping app similar to Adobe XD, Axure RP, Framer, Sketch, and Invision Studio.
Figma is free for students to use, and can run entirely in a web browser, or downloaded as a desktop app for PC and Mac.
Unique Advantages
Launched in 2016, it was the first app of its kind to be able to run entirely in a web browser, and to feature a live multiplayer collaboration mode allowing team members to contribute simultaneously to a design, although this feature is increasingly becoming available in other prototyping apps.
There is a Figma app for iOS and Android which allow app prototypes to be tested on-device.
A feature called Interactive Components allows re-usable groups of components like menus to be built, which helps avoid excessive duplication of screens when designing interactions.
